The query sent to Salesforce is FIND {<Query>} RETURNING <Object Type>(<ALL FIELDS>). If the Search Type is sosl you can use queries like map* AND NOT paper. For the text option input is automatically escaped so that you don’t have to worry about escaping special SOSL characters, like { and *.
